AAPL AWARDS

AAPL SUPPORTERS' CUP

  • Awarded to: the team that is at the top of the MFLS points table in the All-American Premier League at the end of the season.

  • Format: Teams compete for points based on the MFLS scoring system. This is NOT the head-to-head competition. The winner is simply the team that has the most MFLS points at the end of the season.

  • Qualifies For: The first place team after week 18 qualifies for the MFLS Champions League.


AAPL LEAGUE CUPS
  • Awarded to: the teams that are at the top of the AAPL Capital League Table and the AAPL Colonial League Table at the end of the season (theses are the two leagues in the head-to-head competition).

  • Format: Teams compete against each other in a head-to-head format. Each team is scheduled to play one opponent each week. The winner is determined by the number of MFLS points scored by the teams in that week. 3 points are given for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss.

  • Placement Tiebreakers:
    1) Overall MFLS points totals.
    2) Goal differential as listed on the MFLS table.
    3) Clean Sheets as listed on the MFLS table.

COLONIAL CUP

AAPL OPEN CUP

  • Awarded to: the team that wins the All-American Premier League Open Cup Tournament.

  • Format: All 24 AAPL teams will be divided into groups. Each team will play every other team in it's group once. The top 2 teams from each group advance to the knock-out phase. The top 2 group winners advance directly to the quarter-finals. The knock-out phase is a two-legged contest where the winner is determined by aggregate points. Teams will be seeded in the tournament based on their overall MFLS point totals on a week to be determined.


  • Qualifies For: The winner gets a spot in the Cup Winners' Cup.

  • Group Phase Placement Tiebreakers:
    1) Goal differential.
    2) Goals for.
    3) Least goals allowed by keeper(s) throughout group play.
    4) Actual MLS goals by team throughout group play.

  • Knock-out Phase Tiebreakers: The team with the best aggregate score advances, if teams are tied...
    1) Team with most "away goals" advances. THE LOWER SEEDED TEAMS WILL BE THE HOME TEAM FOR THE FIRST LEGS OF THE SERIES.
    2) Team with most actual MLS goals during the 2-matches advances.
    3) Keeper(s) with least amount of goals allowed in the 2-matches.
    4) If all else fails, the team with the highest MFLS season points total advances.

AAPL IROQUOIS INVITATIONAL CUP
  • Awarded to: the team that wins the Iroquois Invitational Cup Tournament, which has consisted of group and 2-leg elimination play, with a one-match final.

  • Format: A competition similar to the Mug 'O' Suds where the winner is determined by the number of GOALS scored by the teams in that week. 8 teams advance to the knock-out phase where teams will play 2-legs and the winner will be determined by aggregate totals. The final will be a single game.
    THE FORMAT AND FUTURE OF THE COMPETITION MAY BE CHANGED OR ELIMINATED

    3) Assists by teams throughout group play.

  • Knock-out Phase Tiebreakers: The team with the best aggregate score advances, if teams are tied...
    1) Team with most "away goals" advances.
    2) Team with most assists during the 2-matches advances.
    3) Team with the most TOTAL goals advances.
